CHS Foundation Grants for K-12 Teachers for Ag Education Projects

For 75 years, the CHS Foundation has helped develop the next generation of ag leaders for lifelong success. In honor of this milestone, the foundation is awarding $75,000 in grants for K-12 teachers to implement a project at their school that will engage students in experiential agricultural education. Applications due by October 1, 2022.

Wolf Forgiveness Bonus Program

Howling For Wolves (HFW), a Minnesota-based non-profit wolf advocacy organization, has launched the “Wolf Forgiveness Bonus Program.” Minnesota livestock producers who suffer a suspected predator loss, within Minnesota’s current wolf range, and choose not to engage a trapper will be eligible for a direct payment that is in addition to any government indemnity payment. Predator losses within wolf range, as well as atypical cases outside the defined wolf range, will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

North Central SARE Research & Education Grants

NCR-SARE's 2023 Research and Education Grant Program Call for Preproposals is now available online at http://www.northcentralsare.org/Grants/Our-Grant-Programs/Research-and-Education. Preproposals are due by October 13, 2022.

Gulf of Mexico Hypoxic Zone Smaller than Predicted

The bottom area of low oxygen in Louisiana coastal waters west of the Mississippi River, commonly known as the ‘Dead Zone,’ was mapped from July 25 – July 29, 2022, and was estimated to be 8,480 square kilometers (3,275 square miles).

 Beth Dooley has been named a 2022 finalist for an International Association of Culinary Professionals cookbook award (Food Issues and Matters category) for "The Perennial Kitchen: Simple Recipes for a Healthy Future"  University of Minnesota Press

Equity Project Manager Position with Organic Farmers Association

Organic Farmers Association is hiring an Equity Project Manager. It is a part-time (10 hours per week) consulting position to lead work funded by the USDA National Organic Program to build a more diverse and inclusive organic movement. NOC is part of this effort and we look forward to deepening our work to advance racial equity in the organic movement. Apply by September 6, 2022.
