Paycheck Protection Program New Deadline August 8

If you have not yet applied for PPP, now is the time. PPP loans fund 2.5 months worth of a small business's payroll expense and/or owner’s compensation. A business owner applies for PPP through a participating lender. Many banks, credit unions, and the farm credit system are participating. Apply by August 8, 2020.

MDA New Markets Cost Share Deadline Extended

The New Markets Cost Share program has extended the deadline for fourth quarter applications. E-commerce, contract merchandising, in-store demos or trade show expenses made between March 16-July 31 are eligible for reimbursement through the AGRI New Markets program. Previously, the deadline for reimbursements was June 30. Applications will continue to be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Aging on the Farm Partnership Grants

Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health (UMASH) is seeking pre-proposal applications for small partnership projects ranging from $5,000 to a maximum of $10,000 to address Aging on the Farm. Submit pre-proposal by August 1, 2020.

USDA Community Prosperity Funding Opportunity

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced approximately $4 million in available funding to develop partnerships to leverage USDA and local, state, and private sector resources to address challenges for limited resource, socially disadvantaged, and veteran farmers and ranchers, and communities. The program is administered by the USDA Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement (OPPE). Apply by August 24, 2020.

Gaia Roots Small Grants Program


Gaia Herbs’ social impact program, Gaia Roots, is offering four grantees $5,000 for projects that are working to increase herbal access to drive community empowerment and health across the United States. Apply by July 31, 2020.

SNAP Authorization for Farmers

Marcus Hambrick of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program reminds farmers that they can individually apply to participate in SNAP as an authorized retailer. USDA's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has awarded a grant that provides access to a SNAP Mobile Transaction Processing Application to SNAP-authorized Farmers free of cost, for one year.
