Wolf-Livestock Conflict Prevention Grants

The Wolf Livestock Conflict Prevention Grant is offered by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture to help producers protect livestock depredation by wolves. Apply by January 3, 2025. The MDA was appropriated $45,000 for each of State Fiscal Years 2024 (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024) and 2025 (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) to fund the grant program. We anticipate that 10 grants will be awarded during each fiscal year.

Eligible applicants are livestock producers within Minnesota’s wolf range or on property determined by the commissioner to be affected by wolf-livestock conflicts. The Minnesota wolf range can be found on the DNR website. Grant recipients will continue to be eligible for depredation payments under Minnesota Statute 3.737 and Minnesota Rules Chapter 1515. Eligible projects may include:Purchase of guard animals
Veterinary costs for guard animals
Wolf-barriers which may include pens
Fladry and fencing
Wolf-deterring lights and alarms
Calving or lambing shelters
Chicken and other animal shelters
Other projects that will reduce wolf-livestock conflict
