The University of Minnesota’s Jelinski Lab and the Natural Resources Conservation Service are remapping the soils of the Twin Cities Metro Area. We are seeking a diverse set of sampling locations across soil and land use types to ensure the final soil map product will be as accurate as possible.
This mapping effort will support better land management decisions for urban farming, city planning, conservation planning, and many more uses. From our sampling effort we will improve the soil maps and interpretations for the Twin Cities on the freely available Web Soil Survey.
Farms, gardens, residences, businesses, community areas are all needed and welcome! A sign-up form with information on our project and procedure is linked. Thank you for your helping to make a great soil survey product for the Twin Cities!
See the attached map for our area of interest. The end of this message contains locations of particular interest to the survey.
Please share the flyer and link to the form with anyone you know who may be interested. Thank you for your help!
