Women Farmers Aging Strong - Virtual Series

Women Farmers Aging Strong: A Special Virtual Series for Collaborative Learning Join us for a unique, virtual series -- Women Farmers Aging Strong -- designed to support women farmers to help us preserve and protect our most important farming tool: our own bodies.

Are you a woman farmer (or hope to be) who wants to keep farming and ranching in a healthy manner for a long time?

Women Farmers Aging Strong is a women farmer-led curriculum, featuring a diverse team of women sharing their expertise and experience as we build community and resource share together.

Aging Strong consists of two different virtual series that run in tandem and support each other. Please attend both if your schedule permits (separate registrations -- both free).

•  Learning Circle Series (virtual)

A bi-monthly series from November 5 through March 11 on Wednesdays from 12-1 pm cst covering both mental and physical health topics to support us in farming as we age.  Topics covered include:

  • Improving balance

  • Eating enough protein, fiber & healthy fats

  • Managing stress

  • Rest & recover

  • Continuing to farm as we age

•  Body Mechanics Retreat (virtual)

This time of year gives us an opportunity to step back, reflect and learn how to better care for our physical and mental health. Join a three-day intensive (90 minutes each day) to learn how to best care for ourselves to keep farming for as long as we choose. Each session focuses on different body parts and includes targeted exercises. Bring your yoga mat and come ready to move!

For both the Learning Circles and Retreats: All women-identifying farmers are welcome, wherever you are on your agricultural journey.  Pre-registration required and space is limited.

Aging Strong is led by Renewing the Countryside and Soil Sister in partnership with the Kansas Black Farmers Association (KBFA); Women, Food & Agricultural Network (WFAN); American Farmland Trust - Women Caring for the Land and the University of Vermont Extension.
