We are looking to hire an experienced farm laborer to work at our tribally owned, certified Organic farm in Prior Lake, Minnesota. The gardens are focused on providing fresh, nutritious food for tribal Community Members and the Community’s food institutions, as well as keeping culturally-relevant foods alive and available.
We run a TSA program (Tribally Supported Agriculture), provide food at events, and participate in outreach and educational programming with youth and adults. We pride ourselves on the quality of our products.
A strong applicant will have farming experience that demonstrates proficiency, personal initiative, and commitment in one or more of the following areas: small-scale intensive vegetable production, season extension, post-harvest handling, egg-laying poultry, grounds maintenance, equipment and infrastructure repair, orchard and/ or maple sugaring activities, or youth work. The Senior Farm Laborer is a year-round position that works closely with the farm leads and serves as a field specialist, project lead, and as a mentor/ role model/ pace setter for our seasonal farm crew. This position will work autonomously with youth and volunteers. Experience operating tractors or skid loaders is desirable, but not necessary.
Applicants should expect to work hard and keep up a strong pace in all types of weather. A strong candidate will be able to work independently and, when working with a team, will be expected to role model good technique and efficiency. Strong communication skills are desirable. This position is full-time, year-round, and benefitted.
Pay range is $20-24, DOE.
