Assist with project management and reach out to, and follow up with, small scale meat processing plants, potential apprentices, and related stakeholders to follow up on placement opportunities and progress. The student will also investigate opportunities to institutionalize the project through transferring project control and ownership to an interested established entity that specializes in workforce development in the agricultural sector, immigrant rights, sustainable agriculture, or other related topics. Bridgewater Township seeks the support of a University of Minnesota student researcher to explore and model ways that sustainable stormwater management can be incorporated into building projects in our geologically sensitive Karst region. Research could include the appropriateness and factors to consider for permeable concrete on this site, innovative or cutting edge stormwater management practices, and modeling to forecast stormwater and flooding expected on this site on a 20-40 year time horizon. The Mankato Farmers Market currently operates in the parking lot which is only accessible by car and has limited space for the growth of the market. The work of the research assistant will ensure that this project has the quantitative data needed to successfully identify a handful of potential market sites in Mankato. Through mapping, zoning and policy review, market site observation, and survey analysis, the desired product from the research assistant is a set of market site recommendations that fit both quantitative and qualitative needs of the city and the market steering committee. The City of Lake Bronson is looking into making a city-owned campground and updates at Lake Bronson Park. A graduate student will conduct a feasibility study, including potential demand for campsites, related economic demand and the time and resources needed to operate the campground.
