Volunteer on Board of Directors of the Women, Food and Agriculture Network (WFAN)

Are you interested in getting involved in a non-profit and supporting food growers and land stewards who have been historically excluded from access to education, infrastructure, and support networks in agriculture? Consider applying to join the Board of Directors of the Women, Food and Agriculture Network (WFAN)! Apply by November 7, 2025.

We are an active board passionate about gender justice in agriculture. Check out our current Board of Directors to learn more about us.

Please apply online before 11:59 pm on Friday, November 7th, 2025. Applications will be reviewed in December 2025, and newly elected directors will join the board in January 2026.

WFAN's Board of Directors commit to the following:

  • Term Limits: 3 years (Directors) or 1 year (Student Directors) beginning January 2026. Many of our current Directors began their service as Student Directors. Serving as a Student Director is a great way to learn more about non-profit organizations.
  • Time Commitment: (1) Board meetings every other month (6x a year) held virtually and scheduled at a time convenient to current directors; (2) Participating in a Project Team (e.g. Conference, Development, Governance) that meets virtually as needed; (3) Attending two board retreats per year (travel expenses and virtual accommodation provided).
  • Board Leadership: The board leadership is comprised of two Co-Chairs, a Secretary and a Treasurer.
  • Contribution: All directors are expected to contribute a donation of time, talent, or treasure that is significant to them beyond board meeting attendance (e.g., annual donation; volunteering at our annual conference; assistance with research, graphic design, or accounting).
  • Completion of an annual conflict of interest form and board member agreement.

Anyone interested and who shares our commitments to equity in agriculture/food systems is welcome to apply. The board is especially seeking applicants who have experience or expertise in any of the following areas:

  • Legal
  • Financial
  • Anti-oppression
  • Non-profit financial management and/or accounting
  • Non-profit operations
  • Community organizing
  • Fundraising
  • Strategic Planning

If you have questions or would like to learn more, please reach out to the current co-chairs, Jennifer Payne [email: jfermarshall@gmail.com] or Morgan Bradley [email: Morgan.Bradley.515@gmail.com].

If you would like to contribute to WFAN, but don’t feel ready to serve on our Board yet, please consider becoming a member or supporting our work with a donation!
