  • Travel scholarships: Provide up to $500 for agricultural professionals to attend sustainable agriculture events and share what they learned with their community.
  • Mini grants: Provide up to $2,000 for educators hosting an event (e.g., on-farm trainings, conferences, farm tours, etc.) that trains other educators on sustainable agricultural practices.

Applications are due May 31 for notification by June 15.

Contact Minnesota SARE Coordinator Katie Lee at katielee@umn.edu with any questions.

Note that there is one more round of applications planned for this year, with applications being accepted through October 31 and decisions being announced on November 15.

Resources

The SARE Resources & Learning Center offers a wealth of educational materials. New resources include:

  • Enterprise Budgets for Diversified Farms. This resource provides farm managers with comprehensive guidance and customizable spreadsheet tools to develop enterprise budgets and conduct partial budget analyses. The tools enable them to track the profitability of individual operations and make informed management decisions for diversified agricultural systems.

  • Practical Tips for Beginning Farmers. A video series showcasing farmers from across the country who share advice regarding common challenges facing beginning farmers in today's agricultural landscape.

In addition, the project database contains summaries of all the research and education projects funded by SARE. Search the database for projects based on keywords, location, year, and grant type. It is a great way to learn more about various topics in sustainable agriculture and to see how others approach questions about producing food.
